Hudson Reporter moving offices

The Hudson Reporter, which includes the North Bergen, Secaucus, Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, West New York, and Secaucus Reporter newspapers, as well as Bayonne Community News and lifestyle magazines in Bayonne, Hoboken, and Jersey City, will be moving offices from Hoboken to 447 Broadway in Bayonne effective Tuesday, May 10. The former office at 170 Broadway in Bayonne will also be closed.

Sacco 5K Charity Fun Run on May 14

Local runners of all ages will enjoy breathtaking Manhattan views during a 5K run for charity on May 14 in James J. Braddock Park. On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m., or register before on bestrace.com/SACCO5K/. The race is set to begin at 10 a.m. and a post-race celebration will be at 11 a.m. Tickets for the race are $30, and $25 for the post race party.
All proceeds will go towards the Nicolas J. Sacco Foundation, a 501© non-profit organization. The Nicolas J. Sacco Foundation provides free income tax preparation service for seniors and disabled residents, contributes to local food pantries, and provides direct relief funding to victims of disaster.
Preregistered runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt, and for those who register at the event while supplies last. The post-race party provides BBQ food and refreshments for runners and spectators.

Help treat an opioid overdose

Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services is offering opioid overdose prevention training at the Secaucus Public Library on 1379 Patterson Plank Road on June 13 and June 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Other trainings will be held on May 11 on 600 Pavonia Ave. in Jersey City in Suite B on the eighth floor from 5:50 p.m to 7 p.m. Other meetings will be held on June 13 and July 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 645 Kearny Ave. in Kearny.
Training is free and will include overdose prevention strategies, signs and symptoms of an overdose, how to administer Naloxone, rescue breathing, overdose prevention legal rights, support information and resources, and free Naloxone kits.

PSE&G to upgrade aging gas facilities in Guttenberg
Beginning May 4 PSE&G will be removing approximately one mile of cast iron gas facilities. New durable plastic or steel coated pipes will replace them in order to reduce possible methane leaks. It’s expected to be completed in July 2016.
