Dear Editor:
Unfortunately too many times in life we forget to say those two little words, thank you. So today, I want to take the time to do just that. Recently, the city and the Hoboken American Legion entered into an agreement to build veterans housing. To accomplish this the city had to agree to give an easement for 20 feet of their parking lot to the post. And unless that happened, there was no way the post could accomplish our mission of eliminating veterans homelessness in Hoboken.
I have thanked the mayor, the city council and the various key players both at the city and the county numerous time. I also accolade Monach Housing and their CEO Richard Brown for the great job his team did in securing vouchers needed to start this project. And I can’t thank Mark Villamar enough, a brother veteran and financial officer of the post for taking the command of this project for us.
As I said earlier there are times in life we forget to say “Thank you”! So today, I want say thank you Joe Mindak and the Hoboken Rotary for being the impetus for getting this project off the ground. It was Mr. Mindak that brought Monarch Housing to the table and it was the Hoboken Rotary that rebuilt our post after Hurricane Sandy. Without Joe and the Rotary we wouldn’t be where we are today.
I and all the members of Hoboken Post 107, salute Joe and the rotary for a job well done.
John Carey
