Reeling after a 10-2 thumping at the hands of the Sonics, the Comets hoped to bounce back as they took on the (2-3-1) Rockets in a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Sr. Division bout for the first place position. Once again, the Comets fell behind quickly as the Rockets built a 3-0 advantage with two goals by Kyle O’Hara and a scoring boot by Jacob Kowal. Unable to keep pace with the Rockets’ full court attack, the Comets called on Joyce Gabrael and Mariam Rasslan to perkup the defense. With their defense fortified, the Comets’ offense cashed in as Gabrael zipped a full court pass to Harsh Easwar who notched a net jet making it 3-1, Rockets. With the Comets back in the hunt, the Rockets switched gears as Kowal and O’Hara racked up bulls eyes with Khaled Rasslan and Nicholas DePinto assisting from their defensive positions. Trailing 5-1, the Comets made it a 5-2 bout on a leaping “Kung Fu” kick by Harsh Easwar. Up by 3, the Rockets padded their lead to 7-2 as O’Hara rang up his fourth and fifth goal of the match. Trying to keep pace, the Comets made it 7-3 with another Easwar goal with Dylan Subacz on the assist. Finally, the Rockets landed the knockout blow as Kowal bulled in his third goal of the day for an 8-3 Rockets win.
