With both squads boasting (2-2) records and sharing first place in the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Sr. Division, the Rockets and Comets faced off. Cruising out to a 2-0 lead, the Rockets seemed to be hitting their stride right from the opening whistle as Nicholas DePinto assisted Kyle O’Hara on two scoring strikes. The Comets cut into the Rockets’ lead as Dylan Subacz booted in a goal off an assist by AaliyanaCifuentes making it a 2-1 game. Moments later the Rockets regained a two goal lead as Thomas Arias nailed a dart with O’Hara on the assists putting Rockets up 3-1. Seemingly in control, the Rockets got blindsided by a Comets’ scoring blitz as Harsh Easwar blistered in three goals while Dylan Subacz (2 goals) and Alejandro Cifuentes (1 goal) helped give the Comets a 7-3 advantage. Reeling from the Comets’ firestorm, the Rockets tried to respark their offense with Emya Irwin and Kyle O’Hara zoning in but the Comets held firm for a convincing 7-3 victory.
