I.D. Kits offered at Newport Centre to highlight child safety
Simon’s Newport Centre is teaming up with Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez and Hudson County Sheriff Frank X. Schillari to create child identification kits, a valuable tool to help law enforcement in locating and identifying a missing child. Representatives of both offices will be on hand to help with the fingerprinting and completing the kits for parents in Center Court at Newport Centre on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“This is a great way to promote child safety within our community and we are pleased to be working with Prosecutor Suarez and Sheriff Schillari on such an important initiative,” said Jill Daniel, director of marketing and business development at Newport Centre. “This is an event that every parent should take the time to attend with their little ones.”
The child I.D. kits allow parents to create a unique profile of each child that will include a fingerprint and other vital information that can be kept in a safe place, easily retrieved and passed along to law enforcement should the need ever arise. The information gathered will be confidential and parents will be the only one to receive the kit.
“No parent wants to imagine the prospect that one of their children could ever go missing,” said Hudson County Prosecutor Suarez. “However, this is a way to possess an important safeguard that would be crucial for authorities to utilize in searching for a missing child should that unforeseen event ever occur.”
