BAYONNE – Fire Chief Gregory Rogers will retire after 35 years on the job and the last eight leading the city’s fire department.
Roger’s impending departure was announced at the Bayonne City Council meeting on Feb. 17, where a resolution was passed approving his separation agreement with the city.
Council President Sharon Nadrowski thanked Rogers for his years of service to the city.
Rogers said he leaves his post with Bayonne’s firefighters better trained and with experienced leadership coming up through the ranks.
“It comes with a heavy heart and great memories, tremendous memories,” Rogers said of his retirement. “I thank you all of you and bid you farewell.”
Roger’s retirement will be effective March 1.
