JERSEY CITY – A Jersey City man was among five men who were arrested in Passaic County with 55 kilograms of heroin and cocaine in their possession.
Porfirio Peralta-Nunez, 37, of Jersey City, along with four other men from New York City and Miami, Fla., were charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a kilogram or more of heroin, said U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.
Law enforcement officials, Fishman said, saw a tractor trailer parked near an intersection in Clifton. Peralta-Nunez allegedly arrived at the tractor trailer with two empty bags and left shortly afterwards with the bags filled. When he was stopped by police a short distance later, the bags allegedly contained 13 kilograms of heroin.
Other drugs were allegedly found in possession of the other suspects as well as some still in the trailer.
