NORTH BERGEN – North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco, along with other township officials, and members of the North Bergen Police Department and Department of Public Works are currently preparing for the first snowstorm of the season, which is expected to hit the area on Saturday.
“We are closely monitoring the weather forecast for this weekend,” said Sacco. “If the predictions hold and our area gets hit by the storm, our Department of Public Works will be ready to clear the roads and make them safe for our residents.”
The township currently has 15 plows and 4,000 tons of salt ready to use for this weekend. If weather forecasts hold accurate and the storm hits as hard as predicted, the entire DPW will be working through the storm, with a total of 35 employees divided into two shifts per day. In addition the township will pre-treat roads 12 hours prior to the storm with liquid brine.
The township would like to remind residents to be cautious and to call 911 in case of emergency. Residents may contact the DPW for snow clearing issues at any time during the storm by calling (201) 392-2128
