Cifuentes and the Colts Outduel Kruchkowski and the Jets in Overtime

With two hard fought defeats on their 2015 resume, the Jets hoped to right the ship as they took on the (1-1) Colts in a JCC of Bayonne Jr. Division Indoor Flag Football bout. Playing at a frenzied pace, the Jets’ Jack Kruchkowski and the Colts’ Aaliyana Cifuentes each notched 20 points as both players rang up 3 TDs and a two point conversion. Adding matching TDs once again, Kruchkowski and Cifuentes got a little help as the Jets’ Anthony Baez and the Colts’ Brenden McCall got into the scoring mix with two point conversions. Deadlocked at 28 all, the Kruchkowski vs Cifuentes scoring duel continued as both players racked up 32 points before halftime. Kicking in to keep things knotted up, the Jets’ Chase Cohen and the Bears’ Brenden McCall each tacked on two point grabs to make it 36-36. The second half took on a slower pace as each squads’ defense settled in. One key play from the first half still haunted the Colts as the Jets kept pace with Kruchkowskis’ huge interception return for a TD. Taking better care of the ball seemed to be number one on the Colts’ “to do list” as short TD passes to Cifuentes and McCall followed by two 6 yard extra point grabs by Cifuentes helped put 52 points on the board. Not to be out dueled, the Jets stayed in lock-step with Kruchkowski (1TD, 2 expts) and Chase Cohen (1 TD, 2 expts) match the Colts’ total at 52-52 to force overtime. Taking the ball first, the Jets speedy slot receiver David Matos picked up 10 yards to set up a six point dart to Chase Cohen making in 58-52, Jets. Getting their shot, the Colts answered with a 15 yard TD burst by Cifuentes to tie the bout at 58-58. Needing an extra point conversion to seal the deal, the Colts put the ball in the hands of Aaliyana Cifuentes who worked her magic with a game winning sweep as the Colts battled for a 60-58 O.T. win.
