BAYONNE – Anthem of the Seas, the third largest cruise ship in the world and the most technologically advanced, has dropped anchor in Bayonne.
Bayonne is now the homeport of the recent addition to the fleet of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, with Anthem making its initial two sailings from the Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne last week and over the weekend with travel industry executives and media representatives.
The ship sailed Mediterranean cruises from Southampton, United Kingdom, from May until last month.
Prior to its departure on Friday, Nov. 6, Royal Caribbean hosted a 45-minute “Anchored in America” ceremony in its Royal Theater onboard, which culminated in video coverage of the Anthem anchor’s dropping at the cruise port. Company executives and Bayonne Mayor James Davis attended.
