Giron fuels Bengals O.T. win

Kicking off their 2015 Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division campaigns, the Chargers and Bengals met in a JCC of Bayonne gridiron bout. The Chargers got on the board first as Ryan Ballance hauled in a TD strike from QB Chris Ballance. Trailing 6-0, the Bengals answered with a 30 yard TD gallop by Andres Giron to knot the game at 6 all. After mounting an impressive drive with zip line tosses to Tristen Johnson, Harsh Easwar, and Matt Piscopi, the Chargers’ offense fell prey to a “pick” by the Bengals’ Andres Giron who raced from the back of his endzone to paydirt to give the Bengals a 12-6 advantage. Regrouping from the miscue, the Chargers once again moved down court with Mike Piscopi getting into the mix at QB. With less than forty seconds remaining, the Chargers cashed in with Ryan Ballance notching his second TD grab to make it 12-12 to force overtime. Winning the coin toss in O.T., the Bengals’ offense went on the attack with QB Kyle Arano drilling a TD and expt. pass to Andres Giron to take a 19-12 lead. With one chance to answer, the Chargers went to work but after two great defensive plays by the Bengals’ Ian Giron and Kasper Hooks’ the Chargers needed a “Big” play. Answering the call, Ryan Ballance came up with a leaping TD catch to pull his squad into striking range at 19-18. Going for the win with a two point try the Chargers fell just short as the Bengals “D” swarmed in to bat down what would have been the winning toss to hold on for a 19-18 O.T. victory.
