(Trenton) –New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced Palisade Avenue northbound will be closed next week for gas main work as part of the Pulaski Skyway Contract.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, PSE&G is scheduled to close Palisade Avenue northbound at Newark Avenue for the gas main tie-in at the intersection of Route 139. Local access to Washburn Avenue and Dickinson High School will be maintained. The work is expected to take up to five days. If it is completed earlier, the road will be reopened sooner.
Palisade Avenue southbound will remain open but the lane will be narrowed. Pedestrian access across the Palisade Avenue bridge over Route 139 will be maintained as well.
The left lane of Route 139 westbound upper level will be closed approximately 200 feet east of Palisade Avenue through Concord Avenue where it will be restored to two lanes. The dedicated right-turn lane from Route 139 westbound upper level to Palisade Avenue northbound will be maintained.
The following detour will be in place:
Traffic heading north on Palisade Avenue will be directed west onto Newark Avenue to Baldwin Avenue across Route 139 and local street access back to Palisades Avenue
Northbound NJ Transit Buses (#84 & 86) will be detoured via Baldwin Avenue and Beacon Street.
