Carla Cubit spent the past year traversing New York City with her camera, capturing protesters and authorities during the Black Lives Matter demonstrations. Len Scrivanich, a Hoboken local for 26 years, displays his love for the mile-square city with oil paint and graphite canvas work. Anthony Johnson says he’s photographed every sunrise in 2015 so far. George Sabra has made a 14-foot-high storm funnel using reclaimed plastic bottles, cups, jars, and caps.
These four artists are just a glimpse of the hundreds who will showcase their work during the all-day 35th Annual Hoboken Artists Studio Tour on Sunday, Nov. 8.
“Seeing Hoboken from when I was a boy, I can say it has become culturally enriched. I love it.” – Len Scrivanich

In addition to photography, the annual event will also feature musical performances, glass and sculpture work, “wire art,” illustrations, acrylic and canvass paintings, mixed media work, “paper cut art” and poetry.
Although there are numerous stops along the tour, the Neumann Leathers building and Monroe Arts Center will host among the larger galleries, with Little City Books, countless studios and schools also participating.
Art aficionados are encouraged to trace their course on the tour map prior to the tour. A free map for attendees will be available at www.hobokenj.org on Nov. 5 or on the day of the tour at City Hall, at 94 Washington St. between First and Newark streets.
“Even though there are many locations, the tour is designed so that you can easily walk from studio to studio, gallery to gallery,” said organizers in an announcement. “As diverse as the art itself, the tour’s popularity draws artists far beyond the banks of Hoboken. You will see art in many forms, representing an exciting variety of mediums. Visitors will have a chance to meet the artists, photographers, sculptors and artisans and witness the creative process at work.”
