Benefiting all of Hoboken

Dear Editor:
I am writing as a 5th ward resident who is supporting Peter Cunningham for re-election this November 3rd. Take a walk between the viaduct and the Shoprite and you’re sure to notice that the 5th ward has some of the last undeveloped land in Hoboken, and we are at a critical juncture in this being developed. I believe Peter is the right person to advocate for the balanced development we want on this side of town. It’s imperative that developers have regulations and guidelines that they adhere to and that they provide what we, the community, request. A large park at the “BASF” site will help counter balance the condos and retail space that will eventually happen in and around the area. Peter will make certain we get what we need in this area. Other important items that Peter has worked hard on are: Budget: He’s been vigilant with the budget and has worked hard with the council to keep city taxes flat and to help cut 200k from the 2015 budget. Flooding: He’s helped push for the pump that is being installed to help with flooding in the Shoprite area of town, and he supports the flood retention tank that will be installed under the proposed park at the “BASF” site.
On a much smaller scale, I reached out to Peter regarding a quality of life issue, lights and noise going late at JFK stadium, and he helped me to have gain attention from the school board that was lacking prior to his intervention. He’s both responsive to his constituents and also supports a broader vision for Hoboken that benefits all of us who live here. I urge you to cast your vote for Peter Cunningham on November 3rd.
