Documentary spotlighting waterfront referendum to premiere in Hoboken

HOBOKEN – Filmmaker Nora Jacobson will premiere a documentary on Hoboken’s waterfront referendum on Friday, Oct. 30.
“This short documentary tells the story of Hoboken residents fighting to preserve their community from devastating over development,” said organizers in an email. “The citizens won the referendum election by just 12 votes underscoring how every vote truly does count.”
The screening, which will be hosted by the Hoboken Fair Housing Association, highlights the story of residents advocating for the preservation of the waterfront from over development by the port authority.
In addition to the film, Jacobson will be on hand to share her impressions of the events documented. The association’s website provides a copy of the flyer which residents used to stop the development along the harbor.
The screening, which is free and doors open to at 7 p.m., will be held at Community Church on 606 Garden St. To learn more visit www.hobokenfairhousing.org.
