Solari cites kids, budgets, contracts as major issues

To the Editor:

My name is David Solari and I was born and raised in Bayonne. I am a product of the Bayonne public school system. My two children who are now adults were also born and raised in Bayonne; as well as both attending the Bayonne public schools. I am currently running as candidate for a one-year term for the Bayonne Board of Education and my ballot position this November 3 is 16D.
I believe there are three main issues that the board will be facing. First I am advocating for an all-day Pre-K program for our youngest children. I believe if our children are to be our future, they need to be given the opportunity to be the brightest. By expanding our current half day program to a full day one, it would severely help the youngest of our children be ready for the years ahead.
I have worked on budgets throughout my entire life in many different capacities. I believe that the knowledge that I have acquired will be useful when I am elected to the Bayonne School Board. I will balance the needs of the school system and the taxpayers of Bayonne.
Also I would, if elected, settle the contract by diving head on with the negotiating process. Our teachers are our children’s most important asset. Currently we lose out youngest teachers every school year, because of what they are paid. Working toward a fair settlement is crucial and critical.
In closing, I was appalled that Mayor Davis chose his five candidates for the board, a board that the people should choose freely this Tuesday, November 3. I ask that you vote for me, David Solari, 16D, a truly independent voice who will look out for you, the taxpayers of Bayonne.
