To the Editor:
November 3 is the date of what can arguably be the most important local election in the last 35 years. This election will not only determine which candidates will represent the residents of the 31st district down in Trenton but it will also determine who will lead the Bayonne Board of Ed.
There has been an uprising in Bayonne. Dissatisfied Bayonne voting taxpayers have seen broken promises, lack of leadership, and arrogant attitudes from some of our recently elected leaders, who have either spearheaded, fast tracked and/or supported real estate deals, which many feel are shady and do not benefit Bayonne.
The last three City Council and Planning Board meetings are evidence of the unhappiness and uneasiness the residents have had.
The time is now. The time is now to have your voices heard loudly again at the voting booth.
I urge all those who want a change from the rapid decline and need new independent leadership to steer this ship in the right direction to vote wisely. I encourage all to vote for a Board of Ed candidate who hasn’t been endorsed by the current administration. A vote for a City Council- endorsed candidate is a vote for the status quo and will only reinforce the stranglehold the usual Hudson County politics has in this peninsula.
There are two other independent voices running for State Assembly. These voices belong to Anthony Zanowic and Alex Rodriguez.
Voting for the Independent candidates can help ensure that their will not be any political patronage. The good of the public and students will be made a priority over and across party lines.
The time is now to get more involved and have your presence and vote make a difference for a new refreshing and much-needed direction.
Please vote for Zanowic and Rodriguez for State Assembly Column C on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
ALEX RODRIGUEZ
Candidate for State Assembly, 31st District
