Hoboken dental office touts ‘candy buyback’ for trick or treaters to donate excess candy

HOBOKEN – Halloween is only days away and costumed trick or treaters will soon be on the prowl throughout the mile-square city with candy bags in hand.

In partnership with the national Halloween Candy Buyback program, Gentle Dental Care based in Hoboken will invite trick or treaters to trade in their excess candy for cash. For each pound of unopened/uneaten candy donated during the buyback, which will be held from Nov. 2 to Nov. 12, children will receive $1.

The donated treats are ultimately shipped to United States troops currently overseas.

“The yearly Halloween buy back program is a win-win-win,” says Dr. Sharon Stern who has worked at the Hoboken office for the past 27 years. “The children are motivated not to eat the cavity-provoking sticky sweets, I’m happy because my smallest patients are learning to make healthier choices for a lifetime of healthy smiles, and the troops get a sweet treat from home!”

Gentle Dental Care is located at 710 Washington St. To learn more about the program visit www.operationgratitude.com and to search for other participating dental offices visit www.halloweencandybuyback.com.
