Sicilian Club bounced back from a tough loss last week to roll to their second victory of the season, topping Mareks by a score of 4-1 on Sunday. Sicilian Club was able to win the battle of the first half on a goal by Isaac Young. Both teams had several good shots on goal, but only the one was able to go in thanks to some stellar defense and goal tending by both teams.
The second half was a different story, as Sicilian Club was able to control the action for a good part of the half. Several shots on goal were blocked, but Anthony Ward was able to sneak one by for a 2-0 lead. Owen Sanchez followed up with a goal off of a defender that found it’s way in. Anthony Ward scored the final goal for Sicilian Club of the day. Mareks was able to get on the board in the final minutes on a penalty kick by Mateo Capurso that Zachary Taylor blocked, but snuck in thanks to some wicked backspin, for a final of 4-1 in favor of Sicilian Club.
As always, there was strong supporting work and defense from all of the Sicilian Club boys including Edgar Martinez, Freddy Dyar, Kirollos Agaybe, Keiron Yap, Chandramauli Singh, Cody Strausser and Jaden Cipriano-Goines. All contributed heavily on a tough defensive front, and strong offensive push.
