SUBSTITUTION
QUESTION: In high school volleyball, how many team substitutions are allowed per set? ( 12, 18 or unlimited)
ANSWER: A squad is permitted a maximum of eighteen (18) per set; starting does not count as a substitution. (Rule 10, Sec. 3, Art. 2).
QUESTION: Davis is a starter in the center front (CF) position. Ford enters for Davis. Later in the set, Davis re-enters in the rotation. Can Davis re-enter in any position on the floor? Is Davis required to return to Ford’s slot?
ANSWER: A sub must assume his / her original position in the serving order; hence, Davis re-enters for Ford. If Ford re-enters, he/she must assume Davis’ position in serving order. (Rule 10, Sec. 3, Art. 3).
