Single and ready to mingle? Hoboken named second best city for bachelors: report

HOBOKEN – Eligible bachelors in the mile-square city have it the best, according to Livability.com.
“Hoboken offers a high concentration of singles, lots of ways to meet new people, and plenty of options for that first, second, or third date,” reads the website’s press release.
They’ve named Hoboken the top dating city for bachelors. (Hoboken also seems in the running for “city most often named in silly polls,” although Jersey City is up for that as well.) Some of the factors that led to the rankings include places with a large number of singles, percentage of unmarried people, percentage of population in prime marriageable age (20-34) and the number of people in the city that live alone. Access to bars and restaurants – where activities often done by singles take place – were also taken into account.
Coming just ahead of Hoboken at number one is Carrboro, N.C. and behind at number three, West Hollywood, Calif.
Hmmm, maybe we shouldn’t publish this. What if we lose all our eligible men to Carrboro?
“Some people want to stay single. Some people don’t,” said Livability editor Matt Carmichael, in an apparent moment of complex introspection. “These cities are great for people who are single, as well as those looking to find someone not to be single with.”
Livability also noted that Hoboken singles use online dating services like Tinder and Match.com at a rate that doubles the national average.
What about the internet sites that do background checks, though? Do they use those?
