New street-sweeping enforcement on two Bayonne blocks

BAYONNE – The enforcement of mechanical street-sweeping will begin on Parkside Lane and Public Lane on Monday, Sept. 21, city officials said.
The Bayonne City Council passed an ordinance earlier this year authorizing the extension of mechanical sweeping to those two streets. Street-sweeping without enforcement has already been taking place.
Alternate-side-of-the-street parking will be required to allow the street-sweeping to take place more effectively, city spokesman Joe Ryan said.
Beginning on Monday, the east side of Parkside Lane and both sides of Public Lane will be swept with enforcement on Mondays. Parking will be prohibited there on Mondays from 8 to 10 a.m. for street-cleaning.
The west side of Parkside Lane will be swept with enforcement on Tuesdays. Parking will be prohibited there on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon for street-sweeping.
As in other parts of the city, mechanical street-sweeping will not take place on holidays and on other occasions that will be announced.
