JERSEY CITY – The emergency closure of the Five Corners Branch, 678 Newark Ave. of the Jersey City Free Public Library remains in effect through at least next Wednesday, Aug. 26, due to the extensive amount of Freon gas leaking that shut down the air conditioning system.
On Aug. 20, Pennetta & Sons were called and quickly assessed the situation. Repairs to the air conditioning system will be followed by air quality testing before the public and staff can re-enter the building. Test results take a couple of days for processing. It is now expected that the Five Corners Branch will reopen on Thursday, Aug. 27 after the passing of air quality testing.
