HOBOKEN — As of last Thursday, 17 people had picked up petitions to run for one of the six ward council seats up for election to the nine-member City Council in Hoboken. The election will be held in November.
The other three seats are at-large seats and will be up for election in 2017, along with the mayor.
So far, it looks like all seats will be contested, except perhaps Michael Russo’s seat in the 3rd Ward.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer will be hosting a fundraiser for several of the candidates this week, but none in the 3rd Ward to oppose Russo.

There is still time to run. The deadline to turn in petitions is Aug. 31.
