Just a few weeks after Hoboken announced it planned to give its 40-plus designated street parking spots for rental cars to Zipcar instead of Hertz, a media reported today that Hertz will close its “corner cars” feature, which placed cars on the street in Hoboken, New York City, and other places so people could rent them by dialing them up via computer. Hertz told the New York Post that the reason is that not enough people were renting cars during the week.
Hoboken had already made plans to switch to Zipcar, citing problems with the Hertz 24/7 service. But it’s unclear whether rates and features will be the same for Zipcar as they were for Hertz.
Enterprise also has a few cars in Hoboken for hourly rental.
We will provide updates when they are available.
