Mural for the American Legion

To the Editor:

Bayonne’s American Legion, Post 19 will soon be getting a new addition to the downstairs hall area, a new mural painted by my son, Jason Wilson, a graphic artist from Bayonne. Jason is a member of The Sons of The American Legion, Squadron 19. He was approached after some discussion about a mural that would be dedicated to all members of the armed services. Some members had visited posts around the state and found some to have murals inside by the canteen area and wanted to know if we could commission someone to do one in our post. The members of the post agreed and approved to see if we could get a local artist to paint a mural. Jason was approached by his father after the meeting and was asked to submit a drawing of his mural rendition. Two weeks after doing so, Jason was authorized to proceed. Jason is about one third complete with the project. He is hoping for a Veteran’s Day unveiling. Tom Buchanan, Commander of Post 19, has stated that it has been many years since something new has been added to the Post. Commander Buchanan is looking forward to the mural’s completion so we can have a formal dedication. Those members who have been away for a while should stop in and see what is happening and maybe you will catch Jason as he is working on the mural. For God and country.
