LAMERE, ROSE ALICE

A funeral mass was offered July 7 at Grace Episcopal Church (Union City) for Rose Alice LaMere, 92, formerly of Union City and long-time resident of Weehawken. She passed away July 3 after a brief illness. Daughter of the late Arthur William Petersen and Lillian Petersen (nee Friedleben) and niece of the late Rose White (nee Friedleben), Rose was a graduate of Union Hill High School, Class of 1941. During World War II, Rose regularly volunteered as a hostess in service organizations for U.S. Armed Forces personnel. Well known for her red hair and vibrant personality, she worked for many years in fashion in the garment industry in New York City and as a sales associate for Holthausens in Union City.
Rose is survived by her daughter Donna Blauvelt and her husband Robert, her daughters-in-laws Kathy LaMere, and Maria Garcia Pividal, and her brother Harold Petersen. Rose was a grandmother to seven grandchildren: Melissa Liuzzi, Diana Fleischhauer, Andrew Blauvelt, Vanessa Hablitz, Dana Garcia Pividal, Allison DePinto, Stacy Blauvelt, and nine great-grandchildren. Rose was predeceased by her husband Ellsworth, her sons Richard Robinson, David and Daniel LaMere, her daughter Diane Sue LaMere, and her two brothers Richard and Arthur Petersen. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
