HOBOKEN—Fly down to Sinatra Park at 7 p.m. on Monday night for a performance by the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast, organized by the city. This is the first year the Air National Guard Band is performing in Hoboken. Admission is free to the general public.
The Air National Guard Band of the Northeast will present a full performance by its 40 member concert band. It includes an exciting mix of wind band music including Americana, movie themes, jazz favorites, classical and contemporary music and popular patriotic marches. The program will also feature a selection of Frank Sinatra songs in celebration of his centennial.
The 40 members of the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast are all National Guard members with civilian careers, who meet once a month to rehearse and perform. The band has performed for members of the American military in various locations overseas including Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Afghanistan. In 2010, members of the band performed over 20 concerts in 40 days in the Middle East for allied and coalition forces during both military and civilian performances.
Additionally, band members have played at the MLB World Series and the Pocono 500 NASCAR race, among other events across the United States.
The critically acclaimed band has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award the Pennsylvania Governor’s Unit Citation.
The performance by the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast is part of Hoboken’s Summer Enchanted Evenings Concert Series. The concerts are held at the Amphitheater at Sinatra Park, and are always free of charge to the public.
