After falling to the Penguins, 2-1, 2-1 and 4-3 in overtime the (4-3) Devils were savoring one more shot at the undefeated “Pens” as they closed out the regular season in the JCC of Bayonne Floor Hockey’s Senior Division. Getting on the board first the Devils “Team Woods” Colin and Mackenzie Woods put their stick handling artistry on display as Colin assisted Mackenzie on the first goal. Responding quickly the Penguins surged back with goals by Drew Radil, Jared Radil and Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes to take a 3-1 advantage. Battling to keep pace the Devils chipped away as Colin Woods made it 3-2 off an assist by Mackenzie Woods. Leading at the halfway mark, the Penguins found themselves in need of a goalie with their perfect season on the line. Answering the call Megan Feeley took over the reins for her first time in net. Feeling some pressure the Penguins added an insurance goal as Jared Radil drilled in his second goal to make it 4-2, Pens. Putting all their efforts into testing the Penguins defense the Devils went on a shooting spree as John Bautista and Chloe Gregory battled in close while Jacob Kowal and Allen “Lefty” McComb snipped from the point. After a relentless pounding the Devils clawed back into the lead as goals by Marek Mickiewicz (2) and Mackenzie Woods (1) put the Devils up 5-4 with just two minutes remaining. With their perfect season in peril the Penguins rolled the dice and loaded up on offense as Caitlin Feeley, Kasper Hooks and “The Radilators” Drew and Jared Radil railed shots on net but it took the quick stick of Alejandro Cifuentes to tie the bout at 5 all and force overtime. After stepping in for James Bajor at net the Pens’ Megan Feeley ruled the O.T. period while the Devils Logan Mazziota equaled with his wizardry at net to end the game at 5-5 draw.
