Nicole Bawiec and Roger Belanger lead Special Panthers to victory at track meet

Nicole Bawiec and Roger Belanger led a 14 – member contingent representing the Bayonne Recreation Panthers Special Olympics Track & Field Team by copping four first place ribbons at the 2015 Special Olympics of Hudson County Area One Special Olympics Track & Field Meet. The event was contested at the James Braddock Park in North Bergen with the following results:

Softball Throw: Third place – Virginia Canimo, Alexis Galgano and
Debbie LeSane

Second place – Wendy DiDomenico, Dennis Driscoll and
Michael Walsh

First place – Nicole Bawiecand Samantha Ciemiecki

TurboJav: Second place – Ronald Benitez

Shot Put: First place – Francheska Huentelaf

25 – meter walk: Third place – Virginia Canimo

100 – meter dash: Third place – Alexis Galgano

The Panthers capped their day off, with two first place finishes from both of their relay squads:

4×100 – meter Relay (Panthers) FrancheskaHuentelaf, Samantha Ciemiecki, Nicole Bawiec and Ronald Benitez

The Panthers were accompanied to the meet by their extremely proud coaches Theresa Diaz, Denise Bawiec, Tom Moody and John Valdora, all ably assisted by Ian Hudacko and bus driver Willie Pacas. The Panthers have all qualified to participate in the 2015 Special Olympics New Jersey Chapter Summer Games, to be held in mid – June at the College of New Jersey.
