BAYONNE – The city’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraiser is being held from Friday, May 29 at 6 p.m. through Saturday, May 30 at 7 a.m. and officials are asking for the public’s help to make it the best one ever.
The event, being held this year at DiDomenico-16th Street Park, is seeking residents to come out and support it with their attendance and donations.
Overnight there will be a number of activities that residents and others can participate in to honor those fighting cancer and to memorialize those who have died from it.
“I’m sure that everyone in the city has been touched in one way or another by cancer,” spokeswoman Gail Godesky said. “That being said, Relay for Life needs your help.”
Usually the Bayonne effort includes about 500 participants. But this year the number is under 200. And the fundraising goal of $100,000 was not close to being met.
Donations to the 2015 Bayonne Relay for Life can be made onsite Friday night or Saturday morning. Those who can’t make it to the event can contribute by visiting www.relayforlife.org and making a donation to “Bayonne’s Relay for Life.”
