BAYONNE – Bayonne Elks Chapter 434 members will be helping a comrade by turning their annual post-Memorial Day Parade barbecue on Monday, May 25 into a fundraiser for a critically injured Elk and a friend of the chapter killed in a motorcycle accident recently.
“On May 17, our dear friend, Karen Minutella, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident,” said Lisa DiLorenzo, Elks public relations liaison. “Her fiancé, another Elk member, Kenny Healey, suffered severe injuries and is undergoing many surgeries.”
The Elks have invited the public to watch the parade beginning at 10 a.m. in front of the lodge at 364 Broadway. At noon, Elks members will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, alads, corn on the cob, and watermelon for a requested $10 donation.
“Our regularly scheduled Memorial Day Parade barbecue will be converted to a fundraiser to help defray the costs of Karen’s funeral and Kenny’s medical expenses,” DiLorenzo said.
Those who are unable to attend the Elks barbecue but who would like to contribute are asked to make a donation in any amount payable to the Bayonne Elks, 364 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ 07002. The memo line should be marked “Karen/Kenny Fund.”
