A funeral mass was celebrated May 5 at St. Nicholas Church, Jersey City, for Donald F. Daly, Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 1 at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth. Donald was born in Jersey City to Edward Daly, Sr. and Anne Daly. He attended Snyder High School and later Seton Hall University, graduating in 1958, receiving both his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Business. A military veteran, he served faithfully in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He then held a variety of successful sales positions with IBM, US Steel and L.B. Foster. In 1976, he launched into a major career change when he began a career in hospital administration at Meadowview Hospital in Secaucus. He retired in 2010 at the age of 80.
His greatest joy was his large, family. He is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Alice Daly (nee Quinn); his seven children; Anne Mai (Mark), Mary Daly, Patricia Daly (Joseph Brady), Donald Jr. (Susan), Eileen McCabe (David), Michael, and Elizabeth Daly (James Gillespie); his twelve grandchildren; Ashley, Kristen, Michael, Ryan, Lindsay, Lauren, Jacklyn, Eric, Alexandra, Kate, Abby and Patrick and his great grandson, Eric. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward Daly, a Jersey City police officer, and Anne Daly; his daughter Janet and his brother Edward, Jr. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
