D’ELIA, FRANK JOSEPH

A funeral mass was offered April 25 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 93 Clerk St., Jersey City, for Frank Joseph D’Elia, 91. He passed away April 21. He was born in 1924 in Jersey City to Frank D’Elia and Fannie Palma. Frank graduated Dickinson High School in Jersey City and eight days later was inducted into the Army Air Corps where he served his country as an airplane mechanic during WWII. Following the war, he married his high school sweetheart, Christine E. Gargiulo D’Elia and they worked together for over 50 years, side by side, 24/7 in a grocery store that they ran in Bayonne. They retired and moved to Lima Estates to be close to their only child, Frank L D’Elia MD, and their two granddaughters, Alexandra and Elizabeth D’Elia. His only real hobby was his wife, son and granddaughters to whom he devoted his life. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Christine E. D’Elia who died in February 2014. He is survived by his son and granddaughters, brother, George, sisters in law, Orty D’Elia, Grace Gargiulo, Rosalie Maguire, Elizabeth Valanzola, and brother in law, Anthony Gargiulo, as well as multiple other relatives and close friends. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
