Turnpike says week’s delays not due to project

BAYONNE AND BEYOND – Traffic delays this week on the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s Hudson County Extension and at the Bayonne turnpike exchange are not attributable to the turnpike’s recently begun renovation project, a statement said.
The authority issued an advisory on Thursday, April 9 alerting motorists that during the morning rush hour that there was a 3 1/2-mile delay, stretching from the NJT Hudson County Extension eastbound from Interchange 14/I-78 in Newark to Interchange 14A/NJ 169 in Bayonne due to delays at the Global Marine Terminal at the Bayonne-Jersey City border.
“This is a traffic advisory to inform you that the traffic delays at Interchange 14A are due to issues at the marine terminal, and are not a result of the Improvement Project,” the Turnpike statement said.
The Bayonne Police Department was providing assistance.
