The cost of ‘Leprecon’ Day

Dear Editor:
I’d like to know how many parked cars were damaged by hit and run drivers over this weekend. All six cars parked on the north side of 2nd Street between Harrison and Marshall were struck. Driving around Hoboken Sunday morning March 8, I must have seen at least 50 side view mirrors missing, vehicles damaged and garbage strewn everywhere. I’m all for enjoying yourself but this day has simply gotten absurd and out of hand. This is now the second Leprechaun Day out of the past three where my vehicle was damaged by drunk drivers and drunks with zero respect for people’s property? Where are the cameras? Where are the DUI stops?
We have a mayor hell bent on green trash cans, traffic lights, parking tickets and sky high absurd property taxes but does nothing to reign in a reckless and costly event whose basis is to get as drunk as you can and fill the bars from open to close.
