Having already clinched a trip to the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Soccer Junior Division Championship bout, the (5-1) Knights took on the (3-3) Wizards for one last time in the regular season. Hoping to slow the league’s leading scorer, the Wizards assigned two and sometimes three players to the single task of shadowing the Knights’ Dylan Subacz. Recognizing the Wizards’ game plan, the Knights stayed patient before making it a 1-0 game as Amy Gabrael lifted a pass to Subacz who tallied his 31st goal of the season. Sticking to their game plan, the Wizards answered as Paige Higgins assisted Adonis White on his game-tying boot. Taking turns trying to corral Subacz, the Wizards had some success with David Matos, Aaliyana Cifuentes, Jonathan Tom, and Miguel Vargas shadowing the Knights’ “Big Gun” but Subacz kept battling. Finally, the flood gates opened for the Knights’ offense as Dylan Subacz nailed four quick goals as Nazar Kolesnyk (1) and Aviv Talmor (3) picked up the assists. Down 5-1 after a good start, the Wizards could never regroup as the Knights’ Amy Gabrael piled on two more goals with Toni Rivada and Joyce Gabrael notching assists. With a 7-1 lead, the Knights’ fiery goal tender, Edward Denne, helped seal the deal by reeling in saves and sailing the ball full court to run out the clock for a 7-1 win.
