Community leaders seek Democratic Committee Representatives

Dear Editor:
Over the years, we have worked with Mayor Zimmer and the Hoboken City Council to implement a long-term solution to flooding, save our hospital, open new parks, promote balanced development, significantly reduce municipal taxes, and much more. However, the great progress we have seen in Hoboken hasn’t happened by accident.
Good government requires eyes and ears on every street to communicate the issues facing all of our neighborhoods. This is why we are seeking interested residents to step up and get involved. A simple but vital way to help contribute to the positive growth of your community is to serve as a Democratic Committeeperson in Hoboken. If you are interested in making Hoboken a better place and contributing to these efforts, even if you have never thought about running for office, serving as a Democratic Committeeperson is a great way to make a difference.
Each district in Hoboken has a male and a female representing his/her neighborhood. As a Democratic committeeperson, you would represent the Democratic Party in your district, serving as a liaison between your neighbors and your Ward councilperson, making sure the needs of your community are addressed. Additionally, you would vote for the Hoboken and Hudson County Democratic Organization Chairs and Executive Committees. In short, being a committeeperson is an opportunity to make a difference in our community and continue the progress we have accomplished in the last five years.
This is an especially exciting time to be a committee person because of the Democratic presidential primaries that are coming up! As a committee person, you may vote on which candidate the Hoboken Democratic Committee endorses and will have the opportunity to be on the front lines during the 2016 primaries.
If you have an interest in serving as a Committeeperson, please contact Council President Bhalla at councilmanbhalla@gmail.com. Petitions are due by the end of March and Election Day is June 2nd.

Sincerely,
Ravinder S. Bhalla, Hoboken City Council President
Phil Cohen, Past Vice Chair, Hoboken Democratic Committee
Dana Wefer, Treasurer, Hoboken Democratic Committee
