Preface dedication

“George Washington: First in peace, first in war, first in the heart of his countrymen, and the father of our country.” Those words have been exclaimed by American historians since the birth of this fledging nation.
This coveted distinction is most appropriate to the first commanding general of the Colonial Army and the first president of the United States. These deserving attributes have never equaled or surpassed to the present day.
Time has eroded the comprehension of the American Revolution in American history but the accomplishments and sacrifices of our forefathers is a true testament that should never be diminished or forgotten.
As a general, Washington exhibited his military brilliance in battle by withdrawing his army when he faced overwhelming odds which he undoubtedly would have lost the fight another day.
Washington, as a statement, placed the interest of the country first and firmly followed the policies he believed in without regard for public sentiment.
Most of all, he was the epitome of a gentleman, set the principles and precedence for future presidents, public officials and the public to emulate: humility-dignity-and integrity.
