Kowal and the Radil brothers star for Comets

With the top spot in the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Soccer Sr. Division up for grabs, the (2-1) Sonics locked horns with the (2-1) Comets in a week three bout. Right out of the gate, the Comets took control as Jacob Kowal (1goal, 1 assist), Jared Radil (2 goals) and Shashwat Punjani (2 assists) fueled the Comets to a 3-0 lead. While their offense rolled, the Comets’ defense stayed rock-solid as Kasper Hooks, Anushka Chakrabarti at sweeper and Drew Radil in net kept the Sonics off-kilter. Facing their first shutout of the season, the Sonics kept plugging away with James Bajor, Mackenzie Woods, Robert Ochoa, and Alejandro Cifuentes each taking a shot at leading the charge. After a huge defensive stop by sweeper Alejandro Vargas, the Sonics’ offense raced out to a two on one fast break and cashed in as Allen “Lefty” McComb assisted T. J. Wolf on a scoring gem to cut the Comets’ lead to 3-1. As the Sonics put all their resources into the offensive attack, the Comets capitalized as Jacob Kowal brawled a pass to Jared Radil who sealed the Comets’ 4-1 victory with his third scoring boot of the game.
