Frustrated in their first outing, the (0-1) Rockets were in hopes of righting the ship when they took on the Sonics in a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Sr. Division opening week bout. Scoring quickly, the Sonics built a 2-0 advantage as Allen McComb and James Bajor each tallied a goal and an assist. After being corralled in game one, the Rockets’ fiery leader Kevin Aguilar finally got on track with a net jarring goal off an assist from Jaden Subacz. Leading 2-1, the Sonics stretched their lead to 3-1 as Allen “Lefty” McComb powered in his second goal with Robert Ochoa on the assist. Employing pinpoint passing from Kyle O’Hara, Chloe Gregory, and Natallyah Teixeira, the Rockets set up another Aguilar scoring bullet to make it 3-2, Sonics. After assisting on Aguilar’s second goal, the Rockets’ Harsh Easwar came within a fraction of tying the bout but a diving save by the Sonics’ James Bajor foiled the plan. Holding a slim one goal lead, the Sonics’ T. J. Wolf gave his squad a little breathing room as he bulled in a scoring dart off fan assist from Robert Ochoa. Down 4-2 with just five minutes remaining, the Rockets’ Kevin Aguilar took the “bull by the horns” and made it a 4-3 game with his third goal off an assist from Jaden Subacz. With their sights set on draining the clock, the Sonics turned to their ballhawking trio off Mackenzie Woods, Alejandro Vargas, and speedster Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes to hold off the Rockets’ attack and the move worked as the Sonics escaped with a 4-3 win.
