Funeral mass was celebrated Jan. 31 at St. Aedan’s Church for John A. Rea, 87, of Jersey City. He passed away at Christ Hospital on Jan. 23 after a brief illness. Born in Hoboken, John was a lifelong Jersey City resident. His early career was in media, where he worked as a professional photographer and producer of training films. He later worked for Diebold Inc. in New York City as a Master Vault and Safe Mechanic where he was called upon to open or “crack” vaults. His career had him working with the federal government, NYPD and various financial institutions as well as foreign governments. John was a member of the Professional Safe and Vault Technicians Association and a communicant of St. Aedan’s Church. John was predeceased by his wife Celia M. (nee Cutillo). He is survived by his daughter, Nicolina Lee and her husband Henry; sons, Michael (Ret. PANYNJ) and his wife Joanne, John, Jr. and his wife Maria and James V. Rea and his wife Maria as well as 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
