HUDSON COUNTY — NJBiz.com reported on Tuesday that Jersey City’s Christ Hospital has terminated its relationship with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey “and will exit the insurer’s network June 1″ if the two sides can’t negotiate a reimbursement deal before that.
Christ is owned by CarePoint Health.
The story says, “ ‘We are hopeful that the owners of Christ Hospital will meet with us to negotiate in good faith and decide to return to the family of Horizon network hospitals,’ Robert A. Marino, chief executive of Horizon, said in a statement.”
In recent years, some local hospitals have dropped local insurers after both sides could not agree on their reimbursement rates. This has made it more difficult for patients who want to choose hospitals that are in network with their insurance providers.
