Neptune City, died on January 16, 2015. He was born and grew up in Bayonne and joined the Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Augusta, which was a Heavy Cruiser and the Flag Ship of the Atlantic Fleet. He was in many battles at sea and was at Normandy, France on D-Day. After his discharge, he worked at various jobs around the area and spent the next 27 years working for the Security Police at Ft. Monmouth and Camp Evans. As a second job he painted houses. In 1949 he married Audrey Castle Perrin of Rutherford. In 2014 they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He was a Charter Member of the Baptist Tabernacle, South Belmar and an usher for many years. He served on the Official Board of the Liberty, Maine, Lake Association for a few summers. He enjoyed fishing, walking, and cross-country road trips. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Vincent’s memory to The Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat; 700 Mountain Ave., Wyckoff NJ 07481.
