Port Authority announces more bridge closures and holds

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has announced Bayonne Bridge closures and traffic holds for this week.
Drivers are asked to use the Goethals Bridge as an alternate route.
The bridge will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 21 and Thursday, Jan. 22 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next day. The bridge will be closed from Friday, Jan. 23 at 11:59 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. Saturday. Closures are weather dependent.
To facilitate pier segment delivery at worksites in Bayonne and Staten Island, 20-minute traffic holds are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 21. If they occur, the holds will happen between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and at the top of the hour.
The closings are part of the authority’s “Raise the Roadway” navigational clearance project.

Uptown cleanup effort to be held on Sunday

A cleanup effort for last week has been rescheduled for this Sunday, Jan. 25, at noon on Kennedy Boulevard at the entranceway to the city, weather permitting, according to event organizer Corrado DeVincenzo. Those interested in participating should meet at the gateway, between Bayonne and Jersey City on the boulevard.
Participants will be supplied with gloves, garbage bags, and cleaning supplies.

Addams Family musical to be performed in Summit

Performances of “The Addams Family, Musical,” which include two Bayonne residents, will begin Friday, Jan. 23.
Director Scott Goldman and actor Richard Dwyer are involved in the Stony Hill Players production. Dwyer will play “Lurch.” The show continues the 1960s TV series storyline.
Performances will be held at the Oakes Center, 120 Morris Ave., Summit.

Photography exhibition slated for Bayonne Super Bowl weekend

Bayonne resident Caryn La Greca will present her “Picture This” opening night photography exhibition on Saturday, Jan. 31 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 1050 Kennedy Blvd.

Hoboken Catholic Academy holds Poker/Blackjack Night fundraiser

Hoboken Catholic Academy will host its second poker/blackjack tournament fundraiser on Friday, Jan. 30.

Jersey in music history program at Meadowlands

“Rock ‘n’ Roll in the Meadowlands and North Jersey,” a program for all ages, will be presented on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Meadowlands Environment Center, 2 DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst.
Music journalist, author, and New Jersey Meadowlands Commission spokesman Brian Aberback will discuss the Meadowlands’ and North Jersey’s many contributions to the history of rock-and-roll.
Aberback’s slide show covers virtually everything and everyone from the Jersey City doo-wop scene to Frank Sinatra, and Connie Francis. It will also cover punk and new wave’s North Jersey connections to the rap, soul, rhythm and blues, and hard rock that has emanated from the region over the decades.
The cost of the event is $6 for the public and $5 for MEC members.
