HUDSON COUNTY — The Hudson County Board of Freeholders support New Jersey State Senate Resolution 108 expressing profound disagreement with the President Obama’s decision to restore full diplomatic relations with Caribbean Nation of Cuba.
The diplomatic initiative announced by President Barack Obama involved the release of U.S. government subcontractor Alan Gross by Cuba after five years of detention due to the absurd and unfounded allegation of being a spy and the release by the United States of three convicted Cuban spies linked to terrorist activities in this country.
Mr. Aurelio Candelaria, President and Mr. Jose Alfredo Gutierrez-Solana, Secretary of the Union Of Cuban Ex-Political Prisoners, North Zone Organization state,” The Cuban reality, including the dire economic situation that it is confronting is compounded by Venezuela’s oil crisis, which limits its ability to provide the “blood line” needed by the failed regime. Regardless, President Obama has unilaterally discarded the negotiating chips and provided a “life support line” to that failed regime.”
Chairman E. Junior Maldonado and the members of Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders express its profound disagreement with the decision of the President of the United States to restore full diplomatic relations with Cuba.
Copies of this Resolution will be forwarded to Governor Chris Christie, Hudson County’s delegation to the State Legislature including Speaker of the Assembly Vincent Prieto, Senate President Steve Sweeney, Congressman Bill Pascrell, Congressman Donald Payne, Congressman Albio Sires, Senator Robert Menendez and Senator Cory A. Booker.
