A lifelong resident of Bayonne, he passed away on Friday December 19, 2014 at the age of 95. He was a machinist with Western Electric in Kearny for more than 40 years prior to retiring in 1984. Salvatore was drafted prior to Pearl Harbor and served four years in the Pacific as a radar operator. He was a member of the MacKenzie American Legion Post 165 in Bayonne and was a coach for more than 50 years with the Bayonne Little League and Police Athletic League. Salvatore was predeceased by his wife Sophie (nee Hryszko) Malinconico; siblings Mary Coriasco and Michael Malinconico. He is survived by his children, Salvatore Malinconico and his wife Kathleen, Patricia Peeters and her husband Frank, Joseph Malinconico, and Bernard Minish-Malinconico and his partner Brian; siblings Ann Obranowicz and Bernard Malinconico; grandchildren Michael and Nicole Malinconico, Meghan Murphy, Frank, Robert and Linda Peeters and Michael LaPlaga; great-grandchildren, Paige, Jack and Kendall; and longtime companion Gloria Contillo.
