Subacz stars as Jets roar

At (4-4), the Colts found themselves with a golden opportunity to reel in the (5-2) Jets as they locked horns in a week six JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Jr. Div. showdown. Known for their potent offense, it was the Jets’ defense that got on track first as Brendan McCall, Andres Giron, and Aaliyana Cifuentes bull-rushed the Colts’ offense to force a two point safety on the games very first play. The Colts defense led by Raunak Verma, Christian Mekheil, Roman Popowski, and Talen Alsop proved to be almost as fiery as they kept the Jets high powered offense in-check to set up a goal to goal TD gallop by Talen Alsop as the Colts’ took a 6-2 lead. The Colts’ lead was short lived as the Jets “ground and pound” offense made it 14-6 on a 20 yard TD sprint by Dylan Subacz and a coast to coast scoring gem by Giron. Returning the favor, the Colts’ Roman Popowski rumbled wire to wire for a TD to cut the Jets’ lead to 14-12. Going toe to toe throughout the first half, the Jets’ offense struck again as Subacz notched his second TD and a two point run making it 22-14, Jets. One play later, the Colts made it 22-20 on another Popowski TD run but the game tying P.A.T. fell short. After some half-time adjustments, the Jets’ offense caught fire as Jake Bellero took the quarterback reins for the stretch run. Once again, the Jets’ ground attack sealed the deal as Dylan Subacz and Aaliyana Cifuentes each torched the Colts’ defense with zone to zone TD runs as the Jets pulled away for a 34-18 victory.
