Funeral services took place Dec. 1 at SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Jersey City, for Julia Mocik, 94, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. She passed away peacefully on Nov. 26. She was a homemaker, a mother of four and a sales representative of the Avon Company for over six decades. Julia was predeceased by her husband Frank, in 1995, and is survived by her four children Wayne, of Hackettstown; Gary, of North Arlington; Christine, of Windham, N.H., and Denise, of Jersey City. She is also survived by her brother, Steve Kish and sister, Ann Schild. Julia was also predeceased by her parents, Fanny and John Kish, her brother Johnny, and her sisters May and Mildred. Julia also has several nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren she enjoyed throughout life.
Before her marriage to Frank she made stuffed animals in a factory in downtown Jersey City and then worked for Maxwell House Company in Hoboken. Julia also worked for Modern Hatters in Jersey City. During the war, Julia worked at General Motors in Linden with her friend Jen Humienik, constructing Wildcat airplanes for the war effort.
Julia was involved in her church, SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Jersey City, as a member of the Women’s Sodality Group. Services arranged by the Riotto Funeral Home, Jersey City.
