SCOTT, MILDRED BELLEW

A funeral mass took place Nov. 15 at St. Peter and Paul RC Church, Hoboken, for Mildred Bellew Scott, 101, of Hoboken. She passed away at Fritz Reuter Lifecare Retirement Community on Nov. 12 surrounded by family. She was the mother of Terence, Christopher, Richard and Kevin. She had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The eldest, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles T. Scott; sisters Agnes, Elizabeth and Noreen; brothers Vincent, James and Christopher. Mildred was always a working woman, having started at Macy’s in NYC when she was just 13. Her last career was with the tax office for the city of Hoboken. She left school in the 8th grade, got her GED and an honorary degree from Hoboken High School when she turned 100. She is a descendent of Colonel John Stevens and the family that founded Stevens Institute of Technology. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
